Twilight Concert Series

It's free, it's fun and they have a great line up this summer. The Gallivan Center is an outdoor venue right in the heart of downtown SLC, and this year the concert series is celebrating their 20th anniversary with even better selection than before. Starting July 5th and running through August 23rd amazing music will be featured, such as July 12th, 'Galactic' and 'JJ Grey and Mofro', Aug. 9th David Grisman and Sam Bush, and Aug. 16th the 'Charlie Hunter Trio' and Michael Franti!! "Living Traditions07" is the 21st annual living traditions festival. Put on by The Salt Lake Arts Council, this weekend long (May 18, 19, 20) free festival is "a celebration of salt lake's folk and ethnic arts". A community celebration of Salt Lake's diversity through food, music, dance and art.

Join in the festivities with our local ethnic artisans, chefs, musicians and more... which is what this festival is all about.

Squatters Downtown Pub Brewery

Squatters is an excellent place to hit for some great food at lunch, dinner and even Sunday brunch. Personally, I love the atmosphere and the food Squatters delivers. They brew some truly tasty ales and their IPA is just heaven for those of us who aren't ready to settle for the 3.2 oppression.

Squatters offers a friendly pub atmosphere where all types of people mesh and mingle. The ceilings are exposed beam, the theme is modern and the distill tanks behind the bar set the mood with their beautiful copper glow. Their menu can satisfy any pallet, from fancy to burger and a beer. Squatters prides itself to serve fresh healthy and tasty organic food combinations.

Their Ahi tacos are outstanding and they've got an awesome nacho plate of cheesy goodness. They have a great Sunday brunch offering some tasty dishes and you've got to try thier Huevos Rancheros. I'm a fan of this dish and Squatters serves the best I've ever eaten so far b/c of their unique bed of chili the meal lies on top of. You've got to try it!

Market Street Grill And Oyster Bar - Cottonwood

Market Street's Oyster Bar delivers a wonderful atmosphere and a feeling of sophistication you would find at a bar in Georgetown. They pride themselves to offer you the freshest seafood you can find in the greater Salt Lake City area and probably could compete for the freshest in the Southwest. One aspect really unique to the restaurant is the actual market where you can pick up what they had flown in fresh that day and take it home and prepare it however you like.

If you're an oyster fan you must hit them up for their .50 cent Oyster Special on Monday's. Market Street provides one of the widest arrays of oysters you can choose from I've seen anywhere in the entire southwest, maybe even the country. You can't beat two dozen of some of the freshest oysters offered on any menu for only $12.00.

For the price, my en tree experience at Market Street has ranged from really tasty to mediocre. Maybe it depends on whose cooking on certain nights or how busy it is because Market Street Grill deos a lot of business and on any given night you could find a lengthy wait.

I believe the restaurant carries more of an iconic representation across the valley as an easy going, swanky and sophisticated establishment where it's all about the atmosphere. This is probably why it's one of the most frequented restaurants for corporate lunches and dinners.

You can't beat their Monday Oyster Special (.50 cent oysters) or their "Appy Hour" (1/2 priced appetizers) from 4-6.

Ejo's

Ejo's food and atmosphere might be compromised by it's locale and surroundings, but what you'll find as you enter through their doors is a welcoming, clean and updated interior with tasty dishes at affordable prices.

In a valley overflowing with Chinese American food Ejo's shed's new light in the area with some authenticity. Their menu offers an extensive selection of native Korean cuisine. The chef delivered wonderful soups and en trees with some of the best Kim-Chi I've eaten outside of my dear friends mothers traditional Korean home.


In an area of South Salt Lake (corner of 700E and 3300S ) that could use a makeover, Ejo's (you know the one with the marquee that reads - "eat lots of sushi and get thin") has a lovely and newly renovated interior complete with full wall murals of comfortable Oriental setting. They offer beer, wine, great food and a full sushi bar at affordable prices. So, the next you're passing by on 700 E stop in and grab a bite.
